Education

I graduated from Fayetteville High School in 2015 with a 4.3 GPA. Upon acceptance to the University of Arkansas with a full-ride merit-based scholarship, I dual majored in Psychology and Visual Art. In 2017, I relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado and transferred to Colorado State Unviersity. I am still majoring in Psychology (Cognitive Neuroscience concentration) and Visual Arts (with a concentration in Graphic Design). I have added a minor in English with a concentration in literature, and plan to pursue Graduate School upon graduation.

Experience

I have ample experience in English, composition, creative writing, and literature. I scored a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition exam and a 5 on the AP English Literature and Composition exam. I also made a 5 on the AP Psychology exam. I scored a 31 on the ACT with a 35 on the Reading section and a 36 on the English section. I also scored a 1410 on the SAT (2000 using the old SAT scoring system). So far in my collegiate career, I have taken Honors World Literature, Advanced Rhetorical Writing, and two Creative Writing courses. As far as my progress in the Psychology program, I have taken Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Mind, Brain, and Behavior, and Environmental Psychology. I was also the writing editor of a nationally acclaimed literary magazine while in high school and recently began an on-campus all-arts journal/creative publication. I run creative writing workshops, offer critique on all submissions, and facilitate the publication process. I also have worked in two libraries (currently on Colorado State University's campus) working with archival materials and special collections. I believe critical thinking can be honed through literature and the study of written language. This skill is the foundation of all other academic pursuits and is important to a well-rounded education. I tutored students in high school to help them pass their AP exams and pursue their higher education. Repeatedly, I noticed their proficiency in other subjects improve in tandem with their English tutoring, which reaffirmed my faith in academia as a tool of personal growth. I also tutored at-risk youth in reading, which helped them find healthy coping mechanisms and passions within the arts.

Hobbies

I love literature and creative writing! As a result, I created an on-campus creative publication for students to submit to. My staff and I hold weekly creative writing workshops and critiques in order to create an inclusive and supportive community of artists, writers, and content creators. I'm passionate about fostering a love for literature in everyone, no matter how young or old. I believe that everyone can benefit from literary examination, regardless of their life's station. When I'm not at school or work, I like listening to podcasts, spending time with my family, cooking, and practicing web design. I am also a big fan of horror--especially bad, cringeworthy horror. As an additional note: I have ample experience with developmentally and/or physically disabled children and adults and am highly sensitive to people's unique needs and learning styles.
